Christopher Walken does Lady Gaga

Okay, this is pure silliness, so please take it as that. You have to admit that pretty much anything Christopher Walken does is funny. He could sit on stage and read a biology text book with that smirk of his and I’d probably laugh. So when Christopher Walken reads the lyrics of Lady Gaga song, “Poker Face,” I gotta admit, it’s entertaining. He sat and read the lyrics on a BBC talk show and someone “mashed” it with the actual Lady Gaga music video.

Mosters of Folk on Tonight Show

I’ve been looking forward to this supergroup’s album for a few months now. I’ve been reading that the album is not as good as I had hoped, but hey, it’s three talented and entertaining musicians getting together to make music for fun…what can you expect? If all their album ends up being is pure fun with a few surprises here and there, then I’ll except that and enjoy the album for what it is. That’s okay with me…

Rock Band Intro covers Beatles’ Career in 5 minute

Check out this awesome video introduction to the video game The Beatles: Rock Band right now! It is well worth your time, even though you wouldn’t think something coming from a video game would do the world’s greatest rock musicians any justice. To my surprise and joy, this went beyond anything I expected.

From Rollingstone.com:
As if the The Beatles: Rock Band trailer and the idea of rocking out as the Fab Four on the Shea Stadium and Ed Sullivan Show stages wasn’t enough of a lure to convince gamers to throw down for the Beatles-based title on September 9th, Harmonix, MTV Games and Passion Pictures director Pete Candeland have revealed the jaw-dropping opening cinematic from TB:RB at the game’s official Website.

Ryan Gosling’s Dead Man’s Bones

Actor, Ryan Gosling and friend, Zach Shields, have been working on Dead Man’s Bones for a couple years. It looks like the project started out as a theater production but turned into a musical project. They recruited a children’s choir and were in the final mixing phase in January, planning on releasing the project sometime around June.

Both admit that they are not experts at singing or playing instruments, but it’s the process that they love and they want to create something slightly amateur, giving it the feel of a children’s innocent crayon drawing. I love how Gosling explains it in their Pitchfork.com interview:
“You know when you’re a kid and you get crayons and papers and just draw whatever you want and it’s just a bunch of messy lines, but to you it makes sense, and then they put it on the fridge? From that point on, you’re always trying to get back on the fridge, you start drawing things that look like something, like, the more it looks like a horse, the more chance you have of getting it on the fridge. We wanted to get back to that place before we were trying to make the fridge.”

That’s what I love about independent music. People are allowed to create what they personally want and the final product sounds like you’re right there during the creative process. You feel like you’re watching the piece of art take shape and the excitement of creation comes through in the raw performance. The product isn’t perfected with computers and technical tricks to cover up the humanity of the artists. It’s all right there for the listener to hear. If a listener finds perfection and quality as a priority, then they may find this music unlistenable.

You’ll find their newest music video in the Fetched Videos. Very low quality sound recording but it almost sounds like something that was dug up from the 1930’s. Strangely intriguing…beautiful?
